Flight: Book your flight three months or so before. You can prefer AirAsia and Air India for the best rates. Do filter the search on the web while searching for the flight by sorting from price lowest to highest. The cheapest rate we found was ₹2,700 per person for a flight to Dabolim, Goa from Delhi. Be wise in getting the flight.

Train: Book your train three months or so before. It can cost an adult just ₹780 to reach Madgaon, Goa from Delhi. Be wise in booking the train and choose the fastest.
Roadways: We can reach Goa through road too. It might be a good idea for some but not for everyone. If someone lives in nearby places from the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, then it can be a good idea, otherwise not. It can take around ₹45,000 to reach Goa from Delhi, also it will be quite hectic.

     2. Accommodation

Hotel/resorts: In search of economical hotels, internet is the best place to find. Whenever, online booking of hotels come in our minds (especially of Indians), we recall the advertisement in which the Trivago guy says, ”Kya aapne kabhi online hotel book kiya hai?” which means, “Have you ever booked a hotel online?”. This is kind of a joke for many of us, but if we see, Trivago is really of the best place to find the best hotels! You can get hotels in Goa for even ₹550 per night.

    3. Transport

Four-wheeler: We can rent a car or opt for a taxi. Renting a car for a day will take us around ₹980 whereas, taxi takes us more than ₹5,000 a day.

   4. Choosing amongst the North and South

Planning a budget trip, might let you in confusion of choosing the region. Goa can be divided into two regions, North and South. North Goa is a crowded and a colourful place where you can party a lot and have all the fun whereas South Goa is kind of peaceful, vibrant and a cheaper place. Though, you can party and have all the fun in South too! Choose wisely or choose both if you can.

My trip and the budget

I would love to tell you my budget. It took around ₹10,000 for me to travel Goa. This budget included my flight (round-trip), hotel tariff, transport and shopping. I was on a visit to South Goa where I stayed in La Ben Resort which is in Colva. It was at a well-connected location where Margao city was very near, Colva Beach was just some steps away, Sagar Kinara (a good dining budget restaurant) was near, a place to rent scooty and what not! I shopped for Goan sweets, black jaggery, cashew-nuts and a pair of slippers. I didn’t miss visiting the hilly areas of South Goa, beaches, churches and the all mighty temple, Shanta Durga temple. Overall, I enjoyed a lot and everything was accessible for me which made my trip!
