Countries without airports!
The most common and the quickest way of reaching a far destination is by air. Also, most of the travellers prefer air transport only. Many of us cannot even think of going to another place in another country via waterways or roadways (condition, it is far). For example, it might be weird for many to visit France from India through a ship or through roadways, even if it costs cheaper. This proves us that airways is the only and the best mode of transport to visit different countries and far off places.
Ever wondered about a country without an airport? If yes, ever thought that how can we get there? All the countries in the world have airports apart from the six countries.
Here are those:
1. Andorra
Andorra is the largest country not to have an airport. The nearest airports is in Spain, which is, La Seu d’Urgell Airport around 12 kilometres away.
Though the country has three heliports.
2. Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein does have a heliport in the southern town of Balzers. The nearest international airports is St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland.
3. Monaco
Monaco does not have an airport, but does have Monaco Heliport in the Monégasque district of Fontvieille.[8] The nearest airport is Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France.[9]
4. San Marino
San Marino does not have an airport,[10]but does have one heliport in Borgo Maggiore and a small airfield in Torraccia with a 680-metre (2,230-foot) grass runway. The nearest airport is Rimini’s Federico Fellini Airport in Italy.
5. Vatican City
Vatican City does not have an airport, but does have Vatican City Heliport in the western corner, which is used for visiting heads and officials of the city-state.[11] It would be physically impossible to fit an airport into the 0.44 km2 (0.17 sq mi) land area of the Holy See.[12] The nearest airport is Rome Ciampino Airport in Italy.
6. Sealand
Sealand, the world’s smallest nation is located near United Kingdom. It has a helipad which might not be functional for all. We need to reach there through waterways. Heathrow International Airport in London, is the nearest airport to Sealand.
